About the Item

This small-sized credenza, model KW21, was designed by Martin Visser (1922-2009) and manufactured by ‘t Spectrum in Holland in 1959. Produced for only three years, from 1959 to 1962, this sideboard is a rare find. It features a black painted square tubular metal base and a wenge wooden casing with three off white lacquered doors. The sideboard's folding doors, which open with their original T-shaped keys, lack handles, adding to its minimalist appeal. On the left, the credenza has two doors that open to a large storage compartment with a middle shelf, while on the right, there are three white drawers with additional storage underneath. The sideboard remains in very nice original condition, with slight age-related wear on the surface and doors that add character and authenticity. This piece exemplifies minimalist Dutch design and would look great in any modern interior, whether at home or in an office. It is a fine example of mid-century modern furniture, reflecting the elegance and functionality typical of Martin Visser's work. Martin Visser (1922-2009) was a distinguished Dutch designer renowned for his minimalist and functional furniture. Starting his career as a self-taught designer, Visser joined the Dutch company 't Spectrum in 1954, where he became head designer and created iconic pieces like the BR 02 sofa bed. His work is characterized by clean lines, practicality, and a timeless aesthetic. Visser's designs reflect a keen understanding of materials and construction, making him a pivotal figure in mid-century modern design. His contributions continue to influence contemporary design, celebrated for their simplicity and elegance.
