19th Century, French Bronze Planter or Gueridon
Located in IT
19th century, French bronze planter or Gueridon Measures: cm W 56 x maximum diameter 51 x H 90. H on the floor of the wide 81 cm This refined planter was made in France towards the end of the nineteenth century in the style of «Retour d'Egypte». It consists of a tripod structure in finely chiselled gilded bronze and lacquered in tones. Each leg originates with scroll decorations and phytomorphic elements with golden details, supported by a sphinx with hairstyle, tail and golden wings. This sits on a curvilinear and wavy element decorated with golden ramage and a man’s head with a long beard of classic taste. The legs end with an injured foot and rest on a tripartite base that connects them. In the middle of each leg there is a bronze junction with curls and volutes that converges towards the others in the center, where a vertical element contributes to the momentum and gracefulness of the whole. The basin of the planter is in lacquered tin, with gold edges and reserves. The rising part of the tub has some holes that allow the breathability of the space. This tripod is inspired, with variations, to a famous model of the brothers Luigi and Antonio Manfredini, active in Milan at the beginning of the nineteenth century, financed by the viceroy of Italy Eugenio de Beauharnais, adopted son of Napoleon Bonaparte, for the opening of the real manufacture of Eugenia. The Retour d'Egypte style was widely echoed in France and Europe and originated from General Bonaparte’s military campaign in Egypt in 1799. The fashion of the Egyptians had already in Italy found a previous interpreter in the engraver Giovan Battista Piranesi, but the vast diffusion that also had in the furniture the Egyptian ornament...

Located in Dallas, TX
19th Century French Louis XVI Kidney-Shaped Mahogany Leather Top Desk is a stunning example of the refinement of Parisienne craftsmanship during the end of the 1800s. Using a combination of exotic imported mahogany, satinwood for inlaid French bordering, and olive wood for contrasting panels and enhancements, even stained walnut to simulate rosewood bordering! Enhancing the design even further are brass bale pulls with brass rosette guards, and brass tips on the eight legs with solid brass casters. Monumental HOWARD VERBECK! 19th Century LOUIS XVI MARBLE SIDE TABLE! 1920s Wood
Located in Peoria, AZ
FURNITURE OF LEGENDS! HOWARD VERBECK 19TH CENTURY FRENCH LOUIS XVI MARBLE SIDE TABLE! DIMENSIONS: APPROX. 18" WIDE & 20" TALL Some furniture is more than just furniture. Some furnishings are an intricate part of history and stories accompany them that make them larger than life. Howard Verbeck was one of the greatest interior decorators to the celebrities in Los Angeles. Verbeck had married a noted opera singer and had connections to anyone who mattered in early LA. He was responsible for the amazingly rich "look" of Los Angeles homes and fledgling Hollywood in the roaring twenties! He was the father of "Hollywood Regency" style - which was then really just high end European furnishings of the most famous styles and periods. From Valentino to Douglas Fairbanks many silent screen stars home were furnished by Verbeck and he became extremely wealthy. Verbeck purchased one of the most famous homes in LA from a grain tycoon. On his birthday, he had the house removed from its foundation and taken to a new location. For four hours the house moved down Wilshire Boulevard in two sections on many slow moving trucks. What made it an LA legend was that he had a huge party in the house as it was moved! Even the mayor attended and the party symbolized the excess of the roaring twenties and Los Angeles high society just before the depression. This table is the only table (currently known & identified) to still have Howard Verbeck's signature nameplate affixed! Verbeck, when decorating celebrities homes would travel to Europe and bring back a small inventory of superb pieces. In these days, travel to Europe was by ship and time consuming. The Louis XVI style French table is one he had brought over for a celebrity client. It still has his plate, the manufacturer's label number and was embossed and stamped "Made in France" so it could be exported. The Louis XVI style is timeless and this table features a marble top, inlaid woodwork and brass details that identify its superior European craftsmanship. It fits with all decors and its warm hues enrich any interior. This table is in very good condition for it's century plus vintage. There is wear and age commensurate with usage, brass has aged superbly and has a great patina. The piece truly looks like it emerged from the palace of Louis XVI! A priceless piece of Los Angeles and Interior Decoration history! This stunning table will be a magnificent addition to your historic Los Angeles estate, New York penthouse or West Palm Beach...

Vintage and Antique Tables for Sale: Unique Coffee Tables, Dining Tables and Other Tables for Your Home

The right vintage, new or antique tables can help make any space in your home stand out.

Over the years, the variety of tables available to us, as well as our specific needs for said tables, has broadened. Today, with all manner of these must-have furnishings differing in shape, material and style, any dining room table can shine just as brightly as the guests who gather around it.

Remember, when shopping for a dining table, it must fit your dining area, and you need to account for space around the table too — think outside the box, as an oval dining table may work for tighter spaces. Alternatively, if you’ve got the room, a Regency-style dining table can elevate any formal occasion at mealtime.

Innovative furniture makers and designers have also redefined what a table can be. Whether it’s an unconventional Ping-Pong table, a brass side table to display your treasured collectibles or a Louis Vuitton steamer trunk to add an air of nostalgia to your loft, your table can say a lot about you.

The visionary work of French designer Xavier Lavergne, for example, includes tables that draw on the forms of celestial bodies as often as they do aquatic creatures or fossils. Elsewhere, Italian architect Gae Aulenti, who looked to Roman architecture in crafting her stately Jumbo coffee table, created clever glass-topped mobile coffee tables that move on bicycle tires or sculpted wood wheels for Fontana Arte

Coffee and cocktail tables can serve as a room’s centerpiece with attention-grabbing details and colors. Glass varieties will keep your hardwood flooring and dazzling area rugs on display, while a marble or stone coffee table in a modern interior can showcase your prized art books and decorative objects. A unique vintage desk or writing table can bring sophistication and even a bit of spice to your work life.

No matter your desired form or function, a quality table for your living space is a sound investment. On 1stDibs, browse a collection of vintage, new and antique bedside tables, mid-century end tables and more .
