Large Shape-Shifting French Baroque Table
About the Item
French gate-leg table, circa 1650. Oak with metal fittings. Measures: Height 28 ¼“ width 54“ depth 20 ½“ / 41 ½“/ 62“ $20,000.
This solid oak French Baroque table has two pivoting legs on each side to support hinged leaves. It can do triple duty as a dining table, comfortably seating six, a desk, and a display table. The depth is 54", but the length varies from a 28 1/4" rectangle with leaves hanging, to a 56 1/2" half circle with one leaf raised, to a 62" oval with both leaves raised. Cutlery can be stashed in two long, narrow drawers on each side of the centre section.
