About the Item

Radiating sculptural elegance and laid-back glamour, this white-painted McGuire “Wheat Sheaf” coffee table reinterprets a classic mid-century silhouette with light-reflective, coastal appeal. The iconographic pedestal—structured from bundled bamboo or reed—forms a stylized wheat sheaf motif, now cloaked in pristine white lacquer that amplifies its textural drama while offering contemporary versatility. Resting above, the round beveled glass top floats with clarity, punctuating the organic base with refined lightness. This coffee table measures approximately 36 inches in diameter with the base, supporting a 43-inch diameter glass top, and stands at 16.25 inches high—a scale that commands presence while maintaining visual rhythm and spatial grace. Condition is exceptionally well-maintained: the base’s finish has been refreshed in white paint—minor imperfections add subtle character—and the glass shows slight, age-appropriate wear on its edge, reflecting its vintage authenticity without diminishing impact. This listing is the the coffee table alone. The chairs and end tables are NOT included. Inquire if interested in those pieces. McGuire’s iconic wheat sheaf bundle coffee table perfectly captures a feeling of casual luxury. The way that an island resort uses basic materials and turns them into a gourmet experience. McGuire too has take the homely rattan reed and sculpted it into one of the most recognizable tables of the Nineteen-Laties. This vintage coffee table has been updated with fresh white paint. The coffee table would look perfect in a Boho, farmhouse, coastal or modern home. Please let us know if you prefer to buy the coffee table base without the glass. By Ficks Reed, John Wisner
Located in Chattanooga, TN
A sublime fusion of Asian-inspired elegance and mid-century design acuity, this pagoda-style coffee table by John Wisner for Ficks Reed embodies both form and narrative flair. Circa 1950s and conceived as part of Wisner’s iconic Far Horizons collection, the table channels the essence of East-West synthesis with its gently upturned “pagoda” handles and architectural silhouette. The table features a robust bamboo and rattan build, meticulously joined and bound in cane with twisted wrap details at every intersection. The raised mango-wood parquet-style tray surface remains original and exhibits a luminous sheen that enhances the rich warmth of the honeyed weave. Its thoughtfully elevated ends and integrated handles offer subtle sculptural lift and practical intention—perfect for serving or display. Measuring approximately 67¼ inches long, 19 inches deep, and 15 inches high, this piece commands visual presence without overwhelming proportion—an ideal centerpiece for relaxed living spaces, screened porches, or lush lounges. It remains in carefully restored, elevation-ready condition with vibrant surface tone and enduring structural integrity. Wisner’s legacy at Ficks Reed is rooted in his ability to harmonize natural materiality with modernist proportions. This pagoda form exemplifies his fascination with Eastern motifs and American refinement, rendering the piece both exotic and elegant. It continues to resonate in interiors that prize organic balance, sculptural warmth, and collectible mid-century authenticity. This unique bamboo and rattan pagoda style coffee table was designed by John Wisner for Ficks Reed, circa 1950s. Eames for Herman Miller 32 Inch Round White Marble Coffee Table
By Charles and Ray Eames, Herman Miller
Located in Chattanooga, TN
Step into design history with this thoughtfully reintroduced icon: the coffee table Charles and Ray Eames designed in 1949 for their Pacific Palisades home. Artisanally reimagined for today, the table strikes a perfect harmony between mid-century ingenuity and living elegance. Its sculptural base balances refinement with restraint—delicately turned wooden legs, reminiscent of the Eames shell chair dowel construction, intersect with supportive metal cross-struts to create a composition of strength and poise. Above, the tabletop floats effortlessly: rendered in luxe Carrara marble, its veined surface glimmers with the quiet confidence of timeless design, grounding the composition in material integrity. This modern iteration thoughtfully replaces the original gold-leaf surface with more practical, enduring materials—offering both beauty and function without sacrifice. The table is available in square or rectangular formats, each reflecting Eames’ belief in thoughtful versatility and depending on your spatial needs. Since its official return to production in 2017, this coffee table embodies the Eames philosophy of everyday elegance—rooted in solving human needs through beautiful simplicity. The original 1949 design remains remarkably relevant, a testament to its creators’ genius in blending form, function, and warmth. Collectors drawn to authentic mid-century modern pieces will recognize its place in design legacy: a rare instance where vintage provenance is paired seamlessly with contemporary craftsmanship. Several Esque tabletop formats have found favor in the $1,000 – $2,500 range in the current market, emphasizing how the Eames name continues to command collector interest. This table isn’t merely furniture—it is a bridge across time. It invites living rooms, libraries, and lounges to channel the heritage of modern design with a presence that feels both reverential and refreshingly alive.
