About the Item

Mid-Century Coffee Table by Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte Italy, circa 1958 This coffee table, manufactured in Italy by Fontana Arte, is the Model 1774, designed by Max Ingrand around 1958. It features a base made of curved blackened iron, with solid brass profiles attached to the legs. The tabletop consists of two separate parts: one is a profiled ultra-clear Murano glass top, and the other is a bleu-colored mirrored concave glass, creating an impressive optical effect. The piece is in excellent vintage condition, with brass profiles showing a beautiful aged patina. The blackened iron has been polished, and the glass top and internal mirrored glass have been professionally cleaned and hand-polished to restore its original shine. Please note that the metal frame has minor scratches, and the mirrored concave glass shows signs of wear over time. It remains in beautiful condition with a stunning patina. Max Ingrand, while running his studio in Paris, became the artistic director of Fontana Arte in 1954. This prestigious Italian design company, founded by Gio Ponti in 1932, specializes in producing exclusive furniture made from high-quality materials, primarily glass. Max Ingrand (1908-1969) was not only the artistic director of Fontana Arte but also served as vice president of the Society of Decorative Artists, vice president of the Union of Glass and Crystal Makers of France, and president of the Alum Association of the National School of Decorative Arts.
