Osvaldo Borsani Round Coffee Table in Walnut and Crystal Borsani Varedo 1960s

About the Item

A round coffee table in walnut wood, colored ground crystal on top, and brass legs. Designed by Osvaldo Borsani and produced by Atelier Borsani, Varedo, in the 1960s. This mid-century coffee table shows a very appealing patina on the brass pedestal, enriched by the beautiful dark red shade of the tabletop; it's a very rare piece that can perfectly fit in a raffinate and very classic ambiance but also complement modern spaces with its vintage allure. Literature: N. Foster, T. Fantoni, Osvaldo Borsani Skira, Milano 2018, p. 76. Osvaldo Borsani (Varedo 1911- Milano 1985) began work at an early age in the family business of making furniture. In 1933 he participated in the fifth Triennale of Milan with the design for the “ Minimal House”, which was awarded the silver medal. In the post-war period, after graduation from Polytechnic, he formed friendships with numerous artists like Lucio Fontana, Agenore Fabbri, Aligi Sassu, Roberto Crippa, Fausto Melotti, and Arnaldo Pomodoro, together with whom he realized important works of art in furnishing and interior architecture.
