About the Item

The Nomos Meeting is an absolute icon of contemporary design, conceived in 1980 by the British architect Norman Foster for Tecno S.p.A. It is not a simple table, but a true structural system that revolutionized the way office and executive furniture was conceived, to the point of being awarded the prestigious Compasso d'Oro prize in 1987 and today exhibited in the permanent collections of international museums, including the MoMA in New York. The structure is composed of tubular chromed steel and die-cast aluminum joints, with entirely metal-to-metal connections that ensure absolute solidity and unparalleled durability over time. Its design is both technical and organic: Tecno describes it as a zoomorphic form, with the central spine supporting the inclined legs, inspired by the landing gear of the Apollo Lunar Module (LEM). This combination gives the table a futuristic appearance-light yet powerful-in perfect balance between engineering and sculpture. The example presented here is the rare and spectacular XL version with a 340 x 140 cm top, capable of seating up to 14 people. A monumental configuration designed for large meeting rooms and prestigious executive spaces, instantly conveying authority and prestige. Another distinctive feature of the Nomos is its versatility: the structure can accommodate tops of different sizes and materials, offering endless customization possibilities. This piece is offered without a top, leaving clients the freedom to choose between extra-clear or smoked glass to highlight the transparency of the structure, or more precious materials such as marble, stone, or wood, to create a unique and bespoke version. The Nomos Meeting is considered not only a masterpiece of design but also a cultural manifesto: a furnishing element that embodies Norman Foster's high-tech vision and Tecno's innovative capacity. Even today, more than forty years after its conception, it remains an essential reference point for architects, designers, and collectors around the world.
