Chinese Antique Carved and Painted Altar Table
About the Item
A notable late 19th century carved wood altar table in old red and black paint now worn to a nice patina with a particularly decorative form. The plank top with tenons and carved edge. The elaborate upper apron with carved openwork ends with scrolls and dragon heads. With four drawers lined in patterned fabric and with chased brass ring pulls. With a serpentine carved lower apron on the front with decorative elements. The heavy shaped legs with scrolled feet and flat stretchers on the ends. The top with highly decorative Hourglass form Butterfly Joints.

Condition: Please see all detail photos. The paint is time-worn overall, top well worn with old stains, some stable age cracks to the legs and the fabric is worn as expected. A fine old Altar Table with a great age patina and presenting exceptionally well.
