Pair Russian Neoclassical Sienna Marble Bronze Mounted Console / Dessert Tables

About the Item

This Elegant pair Russian Neoclassical Sienna Veneered Marble top and Bronze-doré Ormolu Mounted Console / Dessert Tables where made in the late Eighteenth Century. The exquisite richly figured original marble tops are hand veneered with quarter inch Sienna Marble on an hand-chiseled gray marble core that has a hand carved and chiseled bottom that is fitted onto the console tables between the marble supports. (see photo 17) The Sienna Veneered Marble tops are one and quarter inch thick. The Sienna Marble is supported by a mahogany four leg Dessert Table base. The Console / Dessert Table bases are Demilune shaped with inlaid diamond motifs and a Bronze-doré Ormolu Rosettes in the center of the three friezes. The middle frieze opens to revile a drawer. The mahogany tapered legs have Bronze-doré Ormolu Mounts and Bronze-doré Ormolu Mounted Cupped Feet. Below the frieze supported by the legs is a crossband, inlay, mahogany Dessert Shelf with a Bronze-doré Ormolu gallery.

    Additions or alterations made to the original: The hidden center drawers was added in the 20th century using original parts. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor fading. One of the original marble tops has a minor chip 3 1/2 inches long on the Sienna Veneered Marble on the back edge. (see photo 12).
