About the Item

Arne Vodder 1956 for Bovirke, Denmark rare Boomerang desk ’Model BO85’ in teak with brass handles This desk was designed by Arne Vodder for Bovirke. The desk has an organically shaped table top with raised edges. The handcrafted details are beautiful! On the right side it has a drawer body, which virtually floats into the construction. The slender base construction harmonizes with the free-form tabletop. Arne Vodder (1926-2009) should be counted among the most influential Scandinavian midcentury designers, even if he is not as well known as, for example, Hans Wegner or Arne Jacobson. He was once a student of the famous furniture designer Finn Juhl, who later became his friend and business partner. Vodder started as an architect designing affordable housing, later he began designing furniture. Although his designs were far from inferior, his pursuit of functional design that could be used by all remained important. He designed for Fritz Hansen & Sibast, among others. The condition is very nice for a furniture almost 70 years old, of course there are normal signs of use, there are 3 small scrapings on the top side, see photo of the tabletop from above. Dear interior designers, architects and of course all other interested parties - due to the image compression of 1stdibs the photos here are unfortunately mostly rather spongy and possibly not suitable for customer presentations.
