ABOUT An original expandable Paul Frankl desk with cork surface and a Mahogany base with brass hardware. Three drawers, open storage compartment on opposite side and Mahogany bookshelf on the side. Marked underneath and maker's mark in interior drawer. The top easily slides across the drawers to expand the desk. CREATOR Paul Frankl for Johnson Furniture, Michigan, US. DATE OF MANUFACTURE c.1950. MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES Mahogany, Cork, Brass. Dovetail joint construction. CONDITION Good. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor wear to the cork. Blemish center front on cork. Some fading and discoloration to top of cork. Chip on cork left near drawers. Minor wear to Mahogany. Small chip to book shelf. Drawer top, side and back have fading. Chip to drawer corner. Cabinet faded on sides, top and back. Refinishing suggested. DIMENSIONS H 28.5 in. W 58-78.5 in. D 24 in., Knee Height: 26 in., Side Bookshelf H 10 in. W 15 in. D 6 in., Large Shelf H 12 in. W 15 in. D 9 in. HISTORY Unknown.
