Expansion Dining Table w/ Stow-in-Table Leaves in Teak, Westnofa, Norway, 1970's

About the Item

Attention collectors! Introducing a near mint-conditioned extension dining table by the lauded Norwegian Westnofa Furniture Co. Built from a mix of solid and matchbook-veneered Burmese teak with extraordinary woodgrains throughout this artfully designed and crafted dining table features two extension leaves that conveniently stow in the table. The table also features a clever drop-down fifth leg for added support when the table is fully extended. Westnofa was not a furniture manufacturer, but rather an export company founded in the late 1950s by a group of leading Norwegian furniture manufacturers. Its purpose was to combine forces to market and export locally produced furniture internationally, primarily to the United States. Westnofa's success helped put Norwegian furniture on the international stage, particularly in the 1960s and 70s, with designs like the Siesta chair by Ingmar Relling becoming iconic. Westnofa's furniture was designed for easy flat-pack assembly, which allowed for efficient and cost-effective international shipping. Westnofa's work influenced the development of flat-pack furniture, which became popular later through brands like IKEA. Able to extend to a full length of an incredible 105 inches (whilst also condensing down to a petite length of 65.75 inches) this versatile table can easily accommodate up to a dozen guests comfortably. With exquisite joinery, outrageously gorgeous woodgrains and extensions leaves that conveniently stow within the table this ultra-functional table is ideal for collectors and designers alike searching for an authentic Scandinavian Modern dining table that is in near pristine original condition. Westnofa exported very few of these dining tables throughout the early 1970s so when it's gone, it's gone forever. Make it yours today. ---Dimensions--- Extended Width: 105 in / 266.7 cm Width: 65.75 in / 167.01 cm Depth: 40 in / 101.6 cm Height: 29.25 in / 74.3 cm This artfully designed and crafted expansion dining table is in near pristine 100% original, vintage condition! The mix of solid and veneered Burmese teak composition is in remarkably well-kept shape showing only a minor burn (shown in the detail photos provided) on one of the extension leaves as well as light nicks on the feet but showing no deep scratches, stains or other damage whatsoever. The variegated woodgrains are absolutely mesmerizing in natural light. Both extensions leaves conveniently stow in the table and and the table contracts and extends in mere seconds with minimal effort. A drop-down fifth leg adds support allowing extra weight to be applied to the table when extended without fear of overloading. This thoughtfully-crafted dining table is ultra-functional, structurally sound and ready for a literal lifetime more of use. Please view all photos and video for details on this table's current condition. We're limited on the amount of media we can post so additional photos and videos are available upon request.
