French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Handkerchief Games Table Signed A. Lampre
About the Item
An elegant and high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. Mouchette Mahogany and ormolu handkerchief games table signed A. Lempre. The table is raised by slender circular tapered fluted legs with fine mottled topie shaped fitted ormolu sabots, lovely fitted foliate chandelles, and mottled foliate top caps. Above each leg are richly chased ormolu rosettes flanking the straight apron decorated with a fine Coeur de Rai wrap around band and a drawer at each side with a lovely mottled keyhole escutcheon and berried laurel wreath pull. The top showcases the beautiful Mouchette Mahogany grain and opens in a unique handkerchief fashion with four triangles with fine ormolu fillets unfolding to reveal a green felt game surface and which rotates around its original mechanism to create a square. All original gilt throughout.
