Rare and highly stylish chess table with a complete and hand carved wooden chess set. Faux bamboo furniture has been circa since the 19th century and we have sold several pieces both at home and abroad. Most common are the wardrobes and chests of drawers, but in all our years of buying and selling antiques we had never before seen a chess table in this style. It is unique on 1stdibs and we cannot find another one anywhere in the world either. Finding a vintage, midcentury specimen in such excellent condition made the experience even more surprising. This fine table comes with a drawer in which you can keep your chess pieces. Although keeping them on display on this rare chess table probably is an even better idea. From the wear to the lacquer on the hand carved wooden chess pieces it seems they may have been purchased with this table. Apart from the lacquer-wear these chess pieces too are in superb condition.
