About the Item

With a well developed rich and warm colour to the elm, this small and original 19th Century Chinese Elm altar table has a boarded, cleated and oversailing top over two front frieze drawers and retains the original bronze drawer pulls (with sliding sections which secure the drawers). The lowboy has a lovely shape and proportion, the drawers are flanked on either side by well carved spandrels and the whole sits firm and solid on hand carved squared and tapering legs. Original colour, original finish, the bronze hardware has developed a natural and particularly attractive patina. The solid drawer linings are original also, clean and solid, and there is a large ‘secret’ compartment beneath drawers and the whole piece is very solid and robust, no repairs or restorations, no worm or other issues. A beautiful Chinese altar table in a rarely seen small size, with a very lovely colour and tactile quality. Dimensions are: 31.5 inches wide, 20.5 inches deep, 31 inches high For metric please multiply by 2.5
