1965 Alexander Girard for Braniff Airlines & Herman Miller Glass Coffee Table

About the Item

Alongside his contemporaries Charles and Ray Eames and George Nelson, Alexander Girard was a prominent figure in postwar US design. In a departure from the rather austere Modernist aesthetic that preceded him, he brought a playfulness through his love of colour, texture and pattern. This is extremely rare coffee table was originally designed for Braniff Airlines (1965) and later produced by Herman Miller up until 1957 . Adjustable 4 leg aluminum base with the original glass top with emerald square edges Some patina on the leg, and light scratches on the glass top, no chips.
