Donald Deskey Art Deco Dressing Table Vanity with Round Mirror for Widdicomb

Wonderful period streamline Art Deco design vanity dressing table & vanity stool with large round mirror by Donald Deskey (1894-1989) for Widdicomb furniture in maple veneer with aluminum details. Cream lacquered handles and highlights. Mirror is 41.5"d x 1.13"d, Stool is 20.5" dia, x 17.5"h. Older restoration, saw very little use since restored, used in guest bedroom. Mahogany drawers with dovetails, Label. Shown without glass shelf, 8" x 25.5" x 3/16", will ship new glass with vanity. Part of a complete bedroom suite, that I have separated and listed for sale. Also available tall dresser, low dresser with mirror, pair of twin beds and single nightstand. Inspired by the European Art Deco style, Minnesota-born Donald Deskey helped establish a look that became known as "Streamlined Modern." He first gained note as a designer when he created window displays for the Franklin Simon Department Store in Manhattan in 1926. In the 1930s, he won the competition to design the interiors for Radio City Music Hall. In the 1940s he started the graphic design firm Donald Deskey Associates and made some of the most recognizable icons of the day.

  • Condition:
    Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. Nice older restoration / refinishing, has seen little use since. Light scuffs, mohair has some indentation from storing , maybe come out over time or steam it out. Shown without glass shelf, 8" x 25.5" x 3/16", will ship new glass with vanity.
