Vincenzo Frunzo was born in La Spezia on August 5, 1910. He began exhibiting in 1930 and has since then participated in the most important national and international group exhibitions. In 1948 he formed in La Spezia, with six other avant-garde painters, a group that was called "Group of Seven" for over 3 years he was also its animator. In recent years he was invited to participate in the most important art exhibitions. In 1950 at the Venice Biennale, in 1951 at the National Exhibition of Abstract and Concrete Art held at the Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Rome. He joined MAC (Movimento Arte Concreta) in Milan, taking part in all group exhibitions. He was invited to the Rassegna dell'Arte Astratta organized in Milan by the publisher Bompiani with the collaboration of the critic le Noci. He was invited to the Italy-France Exhibition in Turin and later to the Morgan's Paint award in Rimini. The Venice Biennale in 1958 invited him with a "group of works." The following year the Rome Quadriennale also invited him with an entire wall. In the same year, 1959, he moved permanently to Milan. 1965: He participated in the Fiorino Exhibition, and in numerous other Exhibitions. He was invited to the Michetti Prize and the 1965 Rome Quadrennial with a "group of works." Numerous awards were obtained. In 1949 he was awarded a prize at the Mostra del Golfo in La Spezia, and again in 1953 and 1955 he won a purchase prize at the same Exhibition; also in 1955 he was awarded the 3rd prize "Amedeo Modigliani" in Livorno; in 1956 the 1st prize at the Mostra Trofeo Triglia d'Oro in Marina di Carrara; and a prize at the Mostra del Golfo; in 1957 he won 2nd prize at the National Exhibition in Nuoro, Sardinia, and in 1959 again a prize at the Gulf Exhibition in La Spezia; in 1961 he was awarded the Silver Cup of the Minister of Agriculture at the Marche Prize Exhibition in Ancona and was reported at the International Triennial of Color Printing in Grenchen, Switzerland. Mixed-media on Masonite wall sculpture. Architectural layers in Sonoma beach sand and adhesive and acrylic paints. Sculpture is by Eric Barnes and dated 28 October 1983 (23 years ago!). Based on this information we're not sure if it was done in 1983 or 1960? Wall sculpture measures: (framed) 49.5" wide, 3" deep and 49.5" high. Glyn Jones was a British artist born 1936 died in Miami (date unknown). He was considered a Cuban artist in Miami for his magazine cover of Cuba's Bohemia magazine. He had lived in Cuba and married a Cuban lady. Jones would use mythology and Shakespearean characters as a source of inspiration for his artwork. In this work title "GARDEN", one can see a surrealistic figure of a lady holding a flower which is a woman's face. There are actually many different women's faces. Even though the images do not capture the feeling, the blue color, encasing the lady with a raw sienna garment, is what one feels predominantly and black is used for definition, all on a white background. Signed on verso GLYN JONES AUG 69, on frame stretcher, JONES #19979 upper left hand corner and GARDEN OIL/ACRYLIC on the upper right.
