Antique Framed Oil Painting on Canvas by A. Fivet Dated 1923 is a splendid pastoral work that provides a varied palette in a Post-Impressionistic manner for a work that can blend with a wide variety of color schemes in your home. Although the human interest aspect appears center foreground, the shepherd's presence leads the viewer into the scene guiding the flock of sheep home for the night. The beautiful sunset over the rolling hills reminds us how many "Gardens of Eden" exist in this wonderful world of ours. Note the quaint settlement in the background and the creek that runs through the composition, all indirectly glorifying the rural lifestyle. Survives in its original neoclassical giltwood frame, it is signed and dated by the artist. This work just celebrated its centennial birthday!
