"Conversing by the Scented Pool, " Gorgeous Art Deco Chinioserie Painting
About the Item
One of the most exotic and gorgeously colored Art Deco paintings we have ever seen, this scene of an elaborately robed Chinese couple, clearly of royal blood, conversing by a pool suffused with lavender and lily pads, was painted by Endré in the late 1920s or 1930s. The colors are simply stunning jewel-toned emerald, violet, deep purple, saffron and tangerine and the scene is rich with light and atmosphere, framed by the Chinese lantern on the left, and the artfully twisted, flowering tree on the right.
