From Italy an original colorful view of Milan depicting the Ticinese Darsena Navigli Canal with boats and buildings, an oil on canvas painting signed lower lright C.Castelfranchi Milano by the Italian painter Cirano Castelfranchi, Milan 1912-1973.
This Milanese view by Cirano Castelfranchi is entitled on the back of the canvas, with a red pencil inscription: painter prof.Castelfranchi, Old Milano, sunset landscape in Darsena Ticinese, 1962. Pittore Prof. Castelfranchi Vecchia Milano Tramonto alla Darsena Ticinese 1962.
This antique Italian painting is in good condition, set within a passe-partout and modern giltwood frame.
Cirano Castelfranchi (Genova 1912-Firenze 1973) was an Italian artist active in Milan, from Brera, very well known for his Milan views.
Born in Genoa on July 2, 1912. He has always lived in Milan. He paints in oil and watercolor as a self-taught. He attended the drawing school in Brera. Since 1934 he has exhibited in regional and national exhibitions; and in 1942 he was awarded at the exhibition of Young Italian Painters in Palermo. He has works in private collections in Italy and abroad: New York, Paris, London. In 1934 he designed a series of plates with views of Milan.
