Large oil on canvas showing a bouquet of lilacs in a vase, and a bouquet of pansies in a basket.
Signed upper left FURCY de LAVAULT.
Thibule Marie FURCY de LAVAULT ( 1847-1915). A student of Savarin in Bordeaux, he began his career as a portraitist, but soon specialized as a painter of flowers. Curator of the La Rochelle Museum in 1882, he also taught drawing and painting.
He exhibited at numerous salons in the south of France, and presented his work at the Paris Salon from 1880 to 1891.
Numerous prizes and distinctions.
