About the Item
Noor Knip (Delft, 1943) was educated at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and the Academy of Visual Arts in Rotterdam. She has been a member of Kunstgenootschap de Ploegh in Soest since 1994. Her work is privately owned and included in the collections of various art libraries.
In the many years that Noor Knip has been active as a visual artist, there is hardly any material that she has left untouched. For example, in the 1990s she produced a lot of ceramics and graphics, but she has now been converted to painting for some time.
Her recent paintings on canvas, linen and newsprint are as 'vital, humorous and idiosyncratic' as it can get. Human and animal figures, living or dead, and lots of other big themes from real life will pop-up once you give yourself the time to take a good look at what's going on.
The work of Noor Knip very much resembles the work of Basquiat and Pablo Picasso
