About the Item

Oil painting on canvas depicting the Madonna and Child, a work of the Venetian school of the late 17th century. The Virgin, wrapped in a dark cloak, holds the Child with a gentle and collected gesture: a devotional image of intimate spirituality, typical of 17th-century Venetian painting. The canvas shows restoration work, as visible in the photographs: the light and bright tones remain well readable, while the dark ranges show some deterioration. Despite this, the work retains its expressive power and a patina that underscores its authenticity. The painting is set in a gold-leaf gilded frame, which can also be dated to the early 17th century. The frame, originally of another format, has been resized in height to fit the canvas, yet retains its antique gilding and original character. Painting size: 25 × 34.5 cm Size with frame: 39.5 × 49 cm For more information, high-resolution photographs or technical details, please contact us.
