About the Item

Pedro Cabrita Reis, “Untitled”, 1992 — Oil and Pencil on Paper Artist: Pedro Cabrita Reis (b. 1956) Title: Untitled Date: 1992 Medium: Oil and pencil on paper Dimensions: 140 × 100 cm (55.1 × 39.4 in) Signed: Lower right Framed: Yes, in natural wood frame Description A contemplative and poetic early work by renowned Portuguese artist Pedro Cabrita Reis, dated 1992, executed in oil and pencil on paper. The large-scale vertical composition features three minimalist circular forms with linear extensions, seemingly floating within a soft, desaturated field of whites, greys, and light blues. The juxtaposition of delicate graphite lines against the textured oil background reflects Cabrita Reis’ ongoing investigation into space, memory, and architectural gesture. This work may be from the Series Hospital or from the Series Houses. This piece exemplifies his early 1990s language, marked by subtle material layering and a sense of restrained lyricism — a transitional moment between figuration and the conceptual rigor that would define much of his later output. Pedro Cabrita Reis is one of Portugal’s most internationally recognized contemporary artists, having represented the country at the Venice Biennale (2003) and exhibited widely across Europe and the Americas. His works are held in major collections, including Tate Modern (London), the Centre Pompidou (Paris), and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Lisbon). Condition Excellent overall condition.

Pierre Legendre, Accord II, circa 1980
By Pierre Legendre
Located in Saint-Ouen, FR
Pierre Legendre (1932-2009) Accord II oil on canvas circa 1980 Measures: 116 x 81 cm. Pierre Legendre, born in 1932 in Haute-Marne, moved to Paris at the age of 22. After classes at the Estienne school in Paris as well as those of the Beaux-Arts, he worked for several big houses and was the originator of logos for big brands like Hermès or Nina Ricci. He entered the academy of the painter Henri GOETZ, which allowed him to familiarize himself with abstract, geometric art. He exhibited from the 1970s, as in 1979 at UNESCO in Paris. A discreet painter, he nevertheless participated in the 80s and 90s in many artists' salons (Comparaison, Grand et Jeunes d'Aujourd'hui, Réalités Nouvelles). Pierre Legendre is of deep integrity, of great moral rigor, his geometric and abstract art also reflects a quest for spirituality and philosophical reflection. Although denying itself to belong to Concrete Art, Legendre by its taste for purism and the immateriality of the straight line is not so far removed from, among others, the art of Jean Gorin...
