Vittorio Amadio - two African Masks, 2004

About the Item

Vittorio Amadio (Italy, 1934) African Masks Acrylic on canvas Signed on the back, 2004 30 x 40 cm Authenticity certificate Vittorio Amadio experiments with non-form as an essential tool, providing a whole complex of structures indicating aspects on human conscience mediated through the individual personality or by impressions from daily life. Non-form implies the absence of concrete description of reality. If there is no concreteness, the exterior, formal aspects are intelligible to the observer and therefore cease to exist. The very fact that Vittorio Amadio wishes to develop non-form implies, however, that he is forced to start from his own reality, even if this contrasts with the principles for abstraction. There is an apparent contradiction between the concept of reality and the dynamics of abstract art intending to reinforce the non-being by describing experiences from a non-form starting point, and this constitutes the most sublime interpretation of his discourse.
