Primitive modernist oil painting on homasote board of a male and female figure ( a self portrait of Leon and his wife Thelma ) by Zoute (Leon Salter 1903-1976 North Rose, NY) Brilliant glowing colors and dynamic imagery. This is one of his early works, signed Zoute 41 bottom right. Reminiscent of the work of Cobra group painters Karel Appel and Corneille.
