About the Item
A set of two matching prints by commercial illustrator John Haymson (1902-1980). Sketched scenes depict the Governor's Mansion and the Raleigh Tavern, both historic buildings in Williamsburg, Virginia. Prints are titled to the left and signed John Haymson to the right, along with the Aaron Ashley Inc copyright mark. Custom framed with a cream bordered mat in beveled gold wooden frames. Dimensions per framed print.
John Haymson was known for historical accuracy and was promoted in the United States by Aaron Ashley, Inc., a reproduction company in New York City.
He usually worked with watercolors, and was known for architectural settings encircled by vignetted trees. Born in Vienna, Austria in 1902, he studied at the Academy of Fine Art.
