About the Item

USA, ca. 1970s. A bold Op-Art serigraph by Toshihiro Katayama (1928-2013). Features green and blue geometric pattern printed on bright red paper. Born in Osaka, Japan, Katayama was a self-taught artist and designer who taught at Harvard for 30 years. From 1990 to 1995, he was the director of the Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts. Working in painting, sculpture, and three-dimensional environmental spacial works, Katayama is known for his use of movement and texture. Signed, numbered, and dated, it has been freshly mounted in a white lacquered wood frame. A vibrant piece with great local history. Dimensions: 28” wide x 28.75” high x 1 1/8” deep.
