Victorian Diamond Pearl Bar Necklace Conversion with Fancy Link Chain

About the Item

A gorgeous antique fancy link chain combined with a Victorian period diamond bar with central pearl - this is an antique conversion necklace. I found the chain long ago and waited to find a bar brooch I loved enough to pair with it. The approximately 3.1 mm wide chain has a wonderful oval link style, with the gold testing around 9K under its high karat finish - that really does give it a luxe look. (it's still marked on a small partial cartouche, as well) The clasp is the original old style bolt ring/spring ring, though much of its high karat surface has worn, seen mostly with magnification. The wearable length of the necklace is a hair over 19 inches or just over 48.26 cm. Ten rustic, chunky old full cut diamonds are set within the silver topped gold bar (gold testing between 15K and 18K). with five to either side of the lustrous pearl set at the center. Each diamond is approximately 3 mm in diameter, so are estimated to weigh approximately .32 carats in total, or so. They vary a bit in cut and color and have lovely sparkle that contrasts nicely with the sheen of the pearl. One diamond is quite clean even under magnification, but the other diamonds are more rustic and do have inclusions and imperfections, particularly visible with magnification. (I am also still trying to get these diamonds really clean, as they came to me quite grungy) I've had the settings tightened, so the stones are nice and secure. The bar has a total width of approximately 1 and 9/16 of an inch (a little over 1.5 inches) or 40.4 mm. Measuring approximately 6.15 mm in diameter, with a baroque - button shape, the pearl has a warm light champagne color with a silvery/pink undertone and pretty luster. It remains in very good condition, though I am working to clean it, too. The finished weight of the necklace on my scale is 6.94 grams.
