Ancient Roman 2nd Century BCE Goddess Roma Coin Diamond 18k Gold Pendant
About the Item
An authentic silver "denarius" coin from the Roman Republic 109-108 BC features the bust of the Roman goddess Roma in military helmet. Roma was a female deity who personified the city of Rome and more broadly, the Roman state. She was a fierce mother of a warrior race, promising protection to the obedient, augmenting rather than replacing local goddesses throughout the empire. The opposite side of this coin displays the goddess Victory driving a chariot. The coin is set within a Steven Battelle designed handmade 18K bezel with large/small twist wire motif surrounding and 2 mm VS1 diamond set below. This pendant is sent with a laminated lifetime coin certificate of authenticity. The 18K handmade hammered chain shown is not included but can be ordered additionally. It comes in 18”, 20”, and 24” lengths. We discount our chains 20% when ordered with a pendant. Someone is going to love this unique piece of history !

After a chance trip to SouthEast Asia in 1987, Steven Battelle became fascinated with the jewelry and iconology from the ancient cultures of Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, and Asia. Eventually forming a partnership with a dedicated group of Balinese village goldsmiths using painstaking handmade techniques, they together create unique designs that incorporate those timeless and classic motifs. He incorporates primarily cabochon gemstones as well as ancient Greek and Roman coins, each piece capturing the feelings of a bygone age.
