Tiny Victorian Diamond Cat's Eye Chrysoberyl Acorn Charm - Antique Conversion
About the Item
Dainty, elegant and beautifully made, this Victorian era diamond and chrysoberyl acorn was originally part of a cravat pin; I have converted it into a wonderful charm pendant. (Acorns have symbolized strength, potential, immortality and fertility through the ages, as the seed of the mighty Oak tree.)
Crafted of silver topped gold, the acorn's cap is studded with 12 tiny sparkling rose cut diamonds, while the nut is made of a beautiful, carved, polished cat's eye chrysoberyl. The stem is attached to a tiny gold loop with a round jump ring - ready to add to your favorite chain.
Including the jump ring, the total drop length of this petite piece is approximately 7/8 of an inch or 21.2 mm. At its widest, the acorn measures approximately 6 mm.
Chunky, a bit rustic in cut & very bright and sparkly, the diamonds range in size from approximatley 1.5 to 1.2 mm. They have good color and clarity and catch the light wonderfully.
The cat's eye is very apparent in the lovely grey-green chrysoberyl - it's used so well in the design as it appears much like a highlight on the shell of a glossy acorn. It remains in very good condition, with very slight wear along the right edge, seen with magnification. There is also one inclusion on that side of the stone that can be seen with magnification, but not the naked eye. Showing a bit of expected wear, the gold prongs are still in good condition.
On my scale, this sweet piece weighs .80 grams.

Wear consistent with age and use. Only slight wear, including a bit of wear at the edge of the chrysoberyl when viewed with magnification.
