About the Item
This delightful little box in the shape of a little book was created in the first half of the 19th century, around 1820-1830. It was created as a seaside souvenir. The box is covered in purple fabric that has faded on the front. The frontispiece is decorated with little seaside souvenirs inside an oval brass frame. On the inside of the lid a small mirror is secured, The outlines of the book are highlighted by impressed gold beading, also faded on the cover of the little book. The sides of the book imitating pages have also been gilt. On the inside of the box we can see a little stain on the light card.
