About the Item

An impressive gilt sterling silver footed basket with original cobalt blue glass liner. The silver frame sits upon four gilt sterling feet and externally features swags with bows and neoclassical style detailing. The inside of the gilt silver basket features its original cobalt blue glass liner which is in pristine condition. The hallmarks to the underside indicate it was assayed in London in 1899, however the 'F.S.' makers mark is unknown to us. Along with the english marks for sterling silver there is another mark '930' which potentially indicates it has been manufactured on the Continent however imported into and retailed in the United Kingdom. The piece despite its age at well over 100 years is in immaculate condition with very little signs or use or losses. We can imagine this piece would be spectacular filled with cumquats or lovely foil wrapped chocolates. 22cm L x 12cm W x 9cm H Total weight of piece - 751 grams
