One of the most respected names in American watch making, was the house founded by Edward Howard in Boston Massachusetts in 1858. Howard was an exceptional watchmaker who had worked originally for the Willard Clock Company. Willard was the premier American clock maker and advanced American horology. Howard’s exceptional designs and innovations helped establish America as a watchmaking capital along with the Waltham Watch Company. Howard’s creativity helped establish the principles of industrialization and standardized parts. Howards watches were rugged and very accurate as well. Their case designs were innovative as well. Howard watches were used by scientists and engineers in military and industry because they were rugged and dependable.
In 1903, the Howard Watch Company was acquired by the Keystone Watch Case Company. Keystone continued to produce Howard watches under the Howard brand name until 1935. By that time the great depression had taken its toll on all but the most robust watch companies. During the 1920’s Howard produced the 12-size caliber which was a beautifully finished watch that kept exceptional time. This is a "vault find" watch, it has been locked up for nearly 50 years, which means it needs a service. We will give it a factory quality service by our finest watchmaker as part of the purchase price before it is shipped out to you. This will delay shipping for a few days of course.
LIFETIME SERVICE COMMITMENT
This unique watch is entirely hand made sometime in the late 1920's. It still had the original cord band when we first purchased it, nearly 40 years ago. We have replaced it with modern leather otherwise you would not have been able to wear if as the old cord was to dried out. The workmanship on this piece is exceptional and the dial is original as well.
The dial done is Sterling Silver with Kiln Fired Printing was produced by Stern Freres and has Solid Gold Applied Breguet Style Arabic Numerals. The hands are original as well. Stern Freres bought the Patek Philippe Watch Company in the early 1930's when they went into bankruptcy. The Stern Family still own Patek Philippe to this day.
Movado is a Swiss watchmaking company founded in 1881 by Achilles Ditesheim in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The name "Movado" means "always in motion" in Esperanto, and the company has lived up to its name throughout its history with its commitment to innovation and design.

This amazing watch is still in its original box and has never even been serviced (that means it must be serviced if you want to wear it). Everything is original on this watch including the spring bars and strap. The guarantee paper is in the box but it has the wrong number on it. I suspect that is maybe why it was never sold. The correct paper likely was sold with another watch and when the jeweler realized it, it was to late and could not sell the second one. If you are collecting new old stock watches...
