Atul Bose - Royal Academy Series-4 Conte on Paper, 15 x 11.2 inches (Unframed Size) 1924-26 (Delivered Unframed in as is condition) Atul Bose was a master artist whose creative journey spanned several decades and left an indelible mark on the Indian art scene. He was born in 1898 in a small village in Bengal and showed an early aptitude for art. Rahim Mirza - Untitled Acrylic on Canvas, 12 x 12 inches (unframed size) Born in 1969, Rahim Mirza completed his art education at Bharat Bhavan in Bhopal, where he studied printmaking. Mirza’s current body of work however, is largely made up of acrylics on canvas. The leaf occupies a central motif in much of his work, representing, perhaps, a multiplicity of emotions; while the appearance of the first leaf signifies Spring and renewal, the shedding of the brown leaves in Autumn heralds the onset of winter. It is these subtleties and the complexity of the simple motif that intrigue the artist. While Mirza focuses on the leaf, he chooses to remove it from its natural environment. Thus while the leaf is a prominent symbol in his work, there generally is no sign of a tree or any context beyond its form. In its multiplicity, the artist creates rhythm and meaning that is far beyond its reach. Mirza had his first solo exhibition at Crimson Art Gallery, Mumbai, in 2000. This was followed by others at Archer Art Gallery, Ahmedabad, in 2001; and Diara art Gallery in 2002. His work has also been a part of group shows like 'Collective Spaces' at M.E.C. Art Gallery, New Delhi, in 2006; 'Anadi' at the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, in 2000; and 'Vibgyor' at the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, also in 2000. Mirza has also participated in 'Samvet', the Madhya Pradesh exhibition at the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, in 1999; the Tokyo International Print Triennial in 1998; the 8th All India Art...

With Smiling Teeth, Dry Pastel on Paper by Artist Jogen Chowdhury "In Stock
By Jogen Chowdhury
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Jogen Chowdhury With Smiling Teeth, Dry Pastel on Paper 7 x 9.25 inches , 2022 (unframed Size ) The framed size of the work is approx . 17 x 20 inches The work will be shipped inclusive of framing. Signed in Bengali Style : He has immense contribution in inspiring young artists of India. Jogen Chowdhury had developed his individual style after his return from Paris. His most famous paintings are in ink, watercolor and pastel. He has painted in oil medium as well. In Chowdhury’s more recent works the sensory experiences of cloth, bolsters, sofas and the human body are cross-projected to produce an uncanny world of tran-substantiated tumescence and flaccidness. Jogen Chowdhury has been widely acknowledged to be, the master of the unbroken line. Like Léger, Chowdhury has been stirred by the linear Kalighat pat tradition, but his lines are emotive and used to express and suggest the character of a person. This is done by, distorting the form without breaking the line and in the world of young, contemporary art; distortion has been Jogen Chowdhury’s most significant impact. Perhaps, because of this, a common observation of his work is that his “people” are caricatures. The person feels familiar to the viewer but it is far more individualised – the face is imaginary but the psyche or characteristics are real. The power and beauty of his technique and line is this play between the known and unknown. In Jogen Chowdhury’s work, the figure is always in the foreground, it is primary, it conveys everything. He uses colour to give volume to his figures and the fluidity of his lines bring a sensual aspect to his forms. About the Artist and his work : Born : Born 1939 in Daharpara Village, Faridpur, Bangladesh. Jogen Chowdhury is an eminent Indian painter and considered an important painter of 21st century India. Family Background : His father Pramatnath Chowdhury was a Brahmin zamindar. Both his parents took interest in art, Jogen Chowdhury’s father Pramatnath Chowdhury painted several mythological scenes from the village theatres and also sculpted various Hindu icons. Whereas his mother was an expert in Alpana drawings. 1939-47 Jogen Chowdhury lived in a village atmosphere. And after partition in 1948, the whole family shifted. Till 1951 the whole family stayed at the police department quarter of his uncle, where on the walls Jogen Chowdhury painted his first painting, 1962 Jogen Chowdhury was employed as Designer in the Handloom Board. Education : 1955-60: Studied at the Government College of Art and Crafts, Kolkata. 1965 : He went to paris to study in Ecole des Beaux Arts, in William Hayter’s Atelier 17. Professional Experience : 1968-72 : He worked as an Art-Designer, Madras Handloom Board, Madras. 1970 : A collection of his poems were published, titled ‘Hridoy Train Beje Othey’. 1987 : Joined Kala Bhavan , Santiniketan as a professor of painting. Selected Exhibitions : 1972, 1975 & 1978 respectively : I, III, IV Triennales at New Delhi. 1979: The Sao Paolo Biennale. 1980: The exhibitions at the Fukuoka Museum, Japan. 1982: The Royal Academy, London. 1982: The Hirschhorn Museum, Washington D.C. 1986: The II Havana Biennale. 1989: ‘Festival of India’, in Geneva. 2002: Saffron art...

Woman with the Wings, Acrylic on Canvas by Contemporary Indian Artist "In Stock"
By Ashoke Mullick
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Ashoke Mullick - Woman with the Wings - 36 x 30 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on Canvas Inclusive of shipment in roll form. Style : Ashoke Mullick is considered one of the leading painters from the Bengal School of Art. Mullick combines a sense of satire with contemporary conditions. His paintings focus strongly on the ordinary man and the contradictions he faces. He uses colours like greens and blues to depict a largely urban India. His paintings also includes a strong focus on the ordinary person – more specifically womankind and the contradictions it faces. The artist likes to portray the contemporary age where people have lost the human touch and have become increasingly impersonal in their behaviour. As a painter, he touches on these facets where customs are not being followed and the link between now and the past is getting hazy. He's carved out a niche for himself with his juxtaposition of real and unreal imagery infusing his canvases with bold, vibrant imagination and certain energy, which is extremely appealing. Mullick has been painting for the last 30 years. About the Artist and his work : Born : 1957, Calcutta. Education : 1981 - Graduated with first class in fine arts 1981-82 - Awarded Cultural Scholarship from the Government of India under Bikash Bhattacharya...

Feroz Khan - Untitled Acrylic on Canvas, 55 x 42 inches About Artist : Mohammad Feroz Khan was born in 1978 and brought up in Delhi. He have not undergone any formal training in Art but gained experience first from his Father Late Mohd Ibrahim Khan, a Banner Painter. Subsequently, under the able tutelage of renowned Artist Late Manjit Bawa (Guruji - his Mentor in Art) he studied and learned Art for 14 years. Bawa took much care to train him to use brush and pastels on a variety of subjects, also guided him to savor the beauty and nuances of Texture. Then, as an initial step, his Guru guided him through a maze of depictable visuals scattered over the all too familiar places of Delhi. He asked him to draw inspiration from real life. Deferential to my master’s academic style of figuration, he soon convinced his guru of deft brushmanship and ability to create naturalistic human and animal forms, avoiding explicit linear delineation, while projecting solid masses. He chose to see the ordinary things and scenes that make up for our everyday life. He look at the little details of a tailor working on a manual sewing machine or a street-side vendor selling a cool drink on a hot summer day or rickshaw pullers or beggars and various other street vendors – denizens of the city’s poorest quarters. It is the sheer simplicity of each of these activities that appeals him and is reflected through his Canvas. Introducing "Golden Days 02" - a geometric abstract painting on round canvas inspired by the luxurious gold gilding of Chinoiserie tableware. Embrace the essence of summer with delicate leaf patterns and heart shapes intricately woven into the design. Radiating beauty at 20cm in diameter and 1.5cm in depth, this piece is crafted with acrylics on round canvas, exuding elegance and charm. As Jenny Uglow once said, "We might think we are nurturing our garden, but of course it’s our garden that is really nurturing us." Reflect on the splendour of summer, with blooming gardens and nature's golden touch encapsulated in this artwork. Experience the allure of metallique acrylic paint, infusing this piece with a soft luster that captivates the eye. Dive into the world of "Golden Days 02" and let the beauty of nature's embrace inspire you. Golden Days 02 (2022) is signed on the back and includes my Certificate of Authenticity .
