Executed by Linder Wandleuchten in Germany, this piece offers two E14 light sources and is preserved in very good condition. This feather-light ceiling fixture or reflector is a sweet Mid-Century number with some lovely period details - brass fittings, scalloped edges and a grand scale and proportion. It provides both ambient light from the large upper reflector and brilliant decorative light via the punched holes in the light shade.
A brass finial and stem add to the quality of the fixture while the whole light floats like a leaf - a weightless, finely proportioned but large light that would go very well in apartments with lower ceilings. An extension pole can be added for higher ceilings if required.
This light was removed from a midcentury home in Caulfield, Melbourne, designed by Russian emigre architect Anatol Kagan. Kagan specified all the lights in the house. This one was in the master bedroom. Lights were being removed due to a rezoning of living areas and an extension. The collection includes original unique BECO copper lights commissioned by Kagan for that home.
