Trial Proof (unique)
This is a Trial Proof that Robert Cottingham inscribed, annotated and gifted to Bryan Konefsky, his longtime studio assistant in both Newtown, CT and Santa Fe New Mexico. Only one other example - a variant - of this early print, exists and is in the collection of the Smithsonian. Due to the untimely death of printer Chip Elwell in October of 1986, only two proofs in the woodcut medium were pulled: the present work, which Cottingham gifted to his longtime studio assistant, and the one at the Smithsonian. Furthermore and in another interesting turn of events, Elwell's studio was burglarized shortly after his death and among the items stolen were the original wood blocks for DON'T WALK. This is an historic work; and the only one available on the market.

Gouache and ink on paper
This characterful card was sent by Louis Osman and his wife Dilys, whom he had married in 1940. Written and painted in 1985, it features an ink sketch and gouache painting of the porch entrance to Byford Court, with handwritten notes about the house's significance. Osman moved to Byford Court in 1976, following a brief brush with bankruptcy.
Osman attended the Bartlett School of Architecture and the Slade School of Art, and became a Donaldson Medallist of RIBA in 1935.
In the late 1930s he took part in the British Museum and British School of Archaeology expeditions to Syria. After war service he worked in London designing buildings, furniture, tapestries, and glass including work in Westminster Abbey, Lincoln, Ely, Exeter and Lichfield Cathedrals. He also did work for the National Trust at Staunton Harold Church in Ashby de la Zouch.
Before moving to Byford Court, Osman and his wife lived at Canons Ashby House in Northamptonshire. Whilst there, they made the crown used at the investiture of Charles, Prince of Wales. In 1976, they also made the gold enamelled casket holding the Magna Carta...

Delicate depiction of a fly fisherman in the rain by Harvey Eckert (American, 1946-2018). This highly detailed landscape watercolor depicts a man fishing in the rain, wading into the water as he smokes a pipe under a tree.

Harvey Eckert (American, 1946-2018) was an American artist from Kansas. He attended Colby Community College, Hays Emporia State and graduated from Wichita University with two degrees. While living in Montana, he was employed by Bob Wards, Fran Johnson’s Sporting Goods and Cashell Engineers as a surveyor and draftsman. Eckert illustrated three books, Caddisflies by the late Gary LaFontaine, Montana Trout Flies and The Master Fly Weaver by the late George Grant. He did illustrations for the following publications: Montana Outdoors, Colorado Streamside, The River Rat published by Trout Unlimited, Fly Fisherman, Rod and Reel...
