Deep in Costa Rica, Painting, Acrylic on Canvas
Located in Yardley, PA
An original one-of-a-kind colorful abstract painting with a gentle texture. Inspired by the unimaginable beauty of the tropical forests of Costa Rica, its fauna and flora, its contrast colors, spirit, and sound. Multiple layers of professional acrylics on stretched canvas. Shades of green, orange, yellow, magenta, purple, and red. The painting covers the edges as well. It will certainly brighten up even the darkest corner of the room. It looks great hanging both vertically and horizontally. Ready to hang. Signed on the back but I can sign it on the front upon request. Each of my paintings comes with a certificate of authenticity, hand signed by me. Copyright ©2022 Ivana Olbricht All rights reserved. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ARTIST'S STATEMENT As an artist, I can only present what has stimulated my own curiosity and creativity which is always something different. Each of my artworks is unique and original. My artwork as well the life is full of surprises, no day is the same. We experience happiness, sadness, peace, uncertainty, nostalgia, hope, you name it. Her Compliments, Horizontal Abstract Landscape, Pink, Dark Red, Brown, White
Located in Kent, CT
In this horizontal landscape painting in ink and oil on paper mounted on panel, the artist's unique ink process creates soft striations of bright pink, dark crimson red, pale yellow and orange at the center of a layered, undulating composition. The result is an abstract landscape suggesting a hilly mountain range, while layers of oil paint and a soft, faint background create depth within the surface. Signed, dated and titled on verso. Shane McAdams’ work is about landscape in the broadest sense. The artist grew up in the desert southwest...

Marc Andre Untitled (field) 2022 Acrylic and oil stick on canvas 16 x 20 inches Marc Andre meditates on the moments we step out of our comfort zone. Infused with neo-expressionist influences and demonstrating a figurative approach akin to the portraits and sculptures of Benin infused with a refreshing wave of energy. By channeling a playful flirtation with mark-making, Andre shows us that childhood creativity is “as pure as it gets”. Andre was born in Toulouse, France and spent much of his childhood traveling the world and frequenting museums with his mother, primarily visiting exhibitions featuring Pan...

Lotus No. 65 (Photo-Realist Still Life Painting of Pink & Green Lotus Flowers)
Located in Hudson, NY
Photorealist still life painting on canvas of a light pink lotus flower with brown lotus pods and green petals against a light grey background "Lotus Number Sixty-Five" oil on canvas, 48 x 48 inches, 49 x 49 x 2 inches with a dark wood frame Signed lower left Excellent condition and ready to hang Painted with the exactness of a still life photograph, this hard edge realist painting by artist Frank DiPietro features a light pink lotus flower, with lush green leaves on a pale grey background. Inspired by close observations of the natural world and encounters with still moments that give us pause. Lines, shapes and colors encountered in nature, reveal the cycles of decay and regeneration that are life’s constant state of change. The work has a quiet, meditative quality. The subject is portrayed in a manner true to their existence in a specific time and place and selected based on considerations of visual relationships to formal elements of painting. Aspects of photo realism, hard edge and color field techniques are utilized to isolate the uniqueness of the subject’s detail, as well as emphasize flatness and illusion of depth within the two-dimensional space of the painting. About the artist: Frank DiPietro was born and raised in Scranton PA. He received a Bachelor of Art from Bloomsburg University in 1997, majoring in both Painting and Ceramics with a minor in Art History. In 2000 he earned a degree in Art Education from Moore College of Art and Design while continuing his studies in painting. Frank lived in Philadelphia for twelve years painting and teaching at several museums, art centers and schools in the region. In 2010 he and his family moved to Chester County PA, where he currently resides. Frank currently teaches painting classes and workshops at the Delaware Art Museum and Longwood Gardens...

Shop Abstract, Landscape, Figurative and Still-Life Paintings

Painting is an art form that has spanned innumerable cultures, with artists using the medium to tell stories, explore and communicate ideas and express themselves. To bring abstract, landscape and still-life paintings into your home is to celebrate and share in the long tradition of this discipline.

When we look at paintings, particularly those that originated in the past, we learn about history, other cultures and countries of the world. Like every other work of art, paintings — whether they are contemporary creations or works that were made during the 19th century — can often help us clearly see and understand the world around us in a meaningful and interesting way.

Cave walls were the canvases for what were arguably the world’s first landscape paintings, which depict natural scenery through art. Portrait paintings and drawings, which, along with sculpture, were how someone’s appearance was recorded prior to the advent of photography, are at least as old as Ancient Egypt. In the Netherlands, landscapes were a major theme for painters as early as the 1500s. Later, artists in Greece, Rome and elsewhere created vast wall paintings to decorate stately homes, churches and tombs. Today, creating a wall of art is a wonderful way to enhance your space, showcase beautiful pieces and tie an interior design together.

No matter your preference, whether you favor Post-Impressionist paintings, animal paintings, Surrealism, Pop art or another movement or specific period, arranging art on a blank wall allows you to evoke emotions in a room while also showing off your tastes and interests. A symmetrical wall arrangement may comprise a grid of four to six pieces or, for an odd number of works, a horizontal row. Asymmetrical arrangements, which may be small clusters of art or large, salon-style gallery walls, have a more collected and eclectic feel. Download the 1stDibs app, which includes a handy “View on Wall” feature that allows you to see how a particular artwork will look on a particular wall, and read about how to arrange wall art. And if you’re searching for the perfect palette for your interior design project, what better place to turn than to the art world’s masters of color?

On 1stDibs, you’ll find an expansive collection of paintings and other fine art for your home or office. Browse abstract paintings, portrait paintings, paintings by popular artists and more today.
