About the Item

Ron Childers’ works represent a series of artistic experiments, with each piece highlighting a distinct approach and technique in painting. This piece's central grid of interlocking geometric forms dominates the canvas. Squares and triangles alternate, creating the illusion of depth and relief. The use of bold, contrasting colors and the introduction of pastels—ranging from greens and reds to blues and yellows—contribute to the dynamic energy of the work. Patterns appear to shift momentarily before our eyes. The central square, made up of smaller interlocking squares, is enclosed by what appears to be an inner frame of vertical stripes, positioned only on the top and the bottom. This striped frame acts as a stabilizing force, grounding the otherwise vibrant and fluid interior composition. This juxtaposition between the central dynamic forms and the static border creates a tension that enhances the viewer’s sense of immersion in the piece. The painting’s visual impact lies in its structure and the optical effects it generates. The repetition of shapes and the careful balance of color create a sense of instability, as though the image is vibrating or alive. The viewer’s gaze is drawn inward, then pushed outward, in a continuous dance between focus and diffusion. Childers offers no overt emotional cues, presenting a composition independently of the narrative. Ron Childers is an American artist who was born in the 20th Century. His work has been offered at auction multiple times. He was the partner of Richard Proctor, with whom he opened a gallery in Palm Springs to show their work.

Untitled: Multicolored Linear Abstract
By Allen Kubach
Located in New York, NY
Allen Kubach (American) "Untitled: Multicolored Linear Abstract" , Acrylic on Canvas, Signed on rear canvas, Early 21th Century, 2005 Colors: Yellow, Orange, Red, Green, Blue Allen Kubach and Marjorie Shaw Kubach were two married artists who explored their artistic styles together throughout their careers. The artists showed their works largely throughout New Jersey and New York, sometimes joining together for the same exhibits. The works that Detour Gallery has acquired are representative of the pair’s time in which they explored abstraction. These works were made in a postwar era, following the art world’s shifted focus on New York as the center for new modern art. Art at this time was evolving, and the experimentation of abstract expressionism, geometric abstraction, and minimalism evidently paved the path for later artists such as Allen and Marjorie. As noted in the New York Times by Vivian Reynor, Allen Kubach “specializes in strong colors, expressing them in vertical and diagonal grids laid one on top of another.” In such a manner, Allan reflects these contemporary ideals that were taking New York by storm in the 1960’s and 70’s. The linear focus and non objective use of color found in Allen’s work correlates to that of the pioneers of abstract and minimalistic work such as Sol Le Witt...
