Afternoon swim, a lovely mid century figurative landscape, by California artist, Henry Milton Snyder (American, 1915-1966). Presented in a giltwood frame. Signed "H. Milton Snyder" lower right. Framed size: 21.25"H x 27.25"W. Image: 18.25"H x 24.25"W.
Snyder, a member of the Santa Cruz Art League and the Los Gatos Art Association, operates an artists’ store, ‘The Palette’ in Los Gatos. He has received many awards for his work and his use of ultra-violet colors and unusual style has gained him a popular following.” per Santa Cruz Sentinel, December 20, 1953, p. 5; “Milton H. Snyder, president of the Los Gatos Art association and an active member of the Santa Cruz Art league, headed a group of Los Gatos artists who have an exhibition of their work in the south gallery during June. He told briefly of some of the pictures hung and introduced the artists who painted them.” per Santa Cruz Sentinel, June 6, 1954, page 2; born December 19, 1915 and died November 14, 1996 in San Jose, California
