Beautiful landscape of a vineyard estate in California wine country with grape vines in the foreground by Jeane Kluga (American, b. 1928), circa 1980. A large grapevine is shown up close, with twisting branches and yellow-green leaves. Behind it, rows of vines lead towards a large house, with a sloping hillside to the right of the composition.
Signed "Kluga" in the lower right corner.
Unframed.
Board size: 16"H x 20"W.
Jeanne works in an impressionistic-realism style, has painted for over 30 years, and has become a full-time occupation. Her works are an eclectic overview of her life and travels. "I paint where my heart leads me."
"What started as a hobby has become a lifelong obsession. Who I am and what I do has been woven into a beautiful tapestry of my life. I paint lively seascapes. I organized and led art groups in the US and abroad, sketching and photographing scenes. In my studio I turn to color and design to recreate these "special moments", in oil, acrylic and watercolor."

Artist Catherine McCargar can't help but be charmed by California's expansive vineyards. Often taking inspiration from the rich and verdant views as she lives in easy travel distance to many of them. In this piece, Catherine offers the viewers a perspective from within a vineyard. Rows and rows of grapevines cover the landscape and nearby trees border the edge adding fiery touches to the scene. Painting the piece in an impressionistic style, Catherine uses deep shadows that highlight autumn light drawing the viewer in to see what she sees.
About the Artist
Impressionist Catherine McCargar expresses her deep admiration of nature through landscape paintings of Northern California. While she is well-versed in a range of media, her preferred medium for painting is watercolor. The fluidity of the paint allows her to capture the muted undertones and the fleeting light found in the natural world. While the backgrounds of her paintings are impressionistic, the foregrounds of her paintings are often highly detailed, showcasing her technical mastery over her medium.
