Overall framed 7 by 11 inches. The frame has been restored.

Raymond Jean Verdun was a pupil of Harpignies. Like Harpignies he painted trees, giving his landscapes a robust and serene feel. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris, receiving an honourable mention in 1909.
