Shinjuku Sunset II (100 Views of Toyko)

About

Represented by George Billis Gallery, NYC & LA -- For the last several years, Heisler has been pursuing three bodies of work. The first is his ongoing Japan series - 100 Views of Tokyo. This body of work focuses on the visual cacophony that is contemporary Tokyo. The second series is of the industrial port of Seattle. The third and perhaps longest running series is or rural America. From the bright lights of Tokyo to the container cranes of the working port of Seattle to the farms and wilderness of middle America, Heisler captures the energy and beauty of these disparate subjects with with his masterful hyperrealist technique. Heisler writes of his work, “My paintings inspired by places of great importance to me as a person and as an artist. I strive to paint these places with exacting detail and commitment to the highest authenticity and realism of the image painted, in tribute to the experience and out of respect for the places and time spent there. My paintings as a whole serve as an album of sorts of my life. I can looks through my paintings over the years and know where life's journey has taken me and be able to connect with these times and places through the work I have done and will continue to do. My paintings are not a pursuit of a certain genre or style of working, but come out of a necessary feeling to capture and present things to those who view my work as faithfully as I can.” Richard Heisler was born in 1973 in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He studied at Highline College, Des Moines WA, Seattle Central College, Seattle WA, and the Cornish College of the Arts, Seattle, WA. His work has appeared in Southwest Art Magazine, Santa Fe Collectors Guide, America’s Civil War Magazine, North Seattle Herald-Outlook, and the Denver Post, among others. It has also been included in the Fort Wayne Museum of Art (Texas) Contemporary Realism exhibition and catalog in 2010 and 2012, and the LaGrange Museum of Art Biennial and exhibition catalog. He was the recipient of the Cornish College of the Arts academic scholarship award, Honorable mention award Barns and Farms national exhibition, Award for excellence CPSA Explore This 5 national exhibition, and the Mosaic Globe creativity award.
