Black and Tan
Located in New Orleans, LA
Kurt Herrmann’s paintings explore his fascination with the language of color and the power it evokes universally and subjectively. To Herrmann, it is not necessarily about the color, but rather how the viewer feels in response to a particular color. His Color Bomb paintings are a sort of playground or vessel for colors to interact and resonate in a similar way to how music is heard. In this new body of work, Herrmann’s visual vocabulary shifts as elements from the Appalachian Mountains (where he resides) begin to emerge, such as the landscape, animals, seasons, and even sounds. Kurt Herrmann resides in the mountains of Lock Haven, PA and obtained a BFA from Lock Haven University. His works have been in exhibitions around the world and most recently at Penny Contemporary, AU; Traffic Jam Galleries, AU; Hells Kitchen Gallery / Tiny Tree, AU; James Oliver Gallery, PA; 12 Gallery, NZ; and Sidewinder Gallery, IL. Herrmann has also shown at art fairs including the Affordable Art Fair, Singapore; The Other Art Fair, AU; and Scope Miami Beach, FL. His work has been featured in Time Out Chicago and the Philadelphia Inquirer. Herrmann’s paintings are included in the collections at the Hotel Del Coronado...

Sarah 5 - Nail and Thread Original Mixed Media String Artwork
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Ricky Hunt’s work is influenced by Egyptian hieroglyphs, graffiti and his tumultuous past that led to a paradigm shift in creativity and life. On his sculptural and three-dimensional mixed media artworks he covers the wood panel with carefully placed nails and creates intriguing portraits with thread woven through the nails. The harmony of the overall filography composition finds its way through his intricate threading of yarn into a cohesive visual statement. Hidden within the patterns and markings of this string art portrait are limitless points of interest, constantly revealing the imagery in a new way for us to discover. His works have been exhibited at galleries and art fairs internationally, including Los Angeles, New York, Zurich, Hong Kong and London. This unique mixed media artwork measures 45 inches high by 42 inches wide and 3 inches deep. The shadows cast by the nails and black thread add a three-dimensional texture to this monochromatic artwork. It is wired and ready to hang. It does not require framing. It is signed and dated by the artist on the back of the artwork. Free local Los Angeles delivery. Affordable U.S. and global shipping options available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Philosophy, mathematics, scientific theory, poetry and astronomy are a few of the themes that run through his paintings and he expresses it with unique imagery. Hunt describes his contemporary imagery as, “Chaotic order pouring from the watery depths of my unconscious”. Ricky Hunt lives and paints in Los Angeles. A brief period of drug addiction in the 1980's led to a term of incarceration for the artist. This in turn led to the discovery of his artistic talent and personal transformation through the love of art. He found inspiration in artists such as Basquiat and...

Light Decaying
Located in San Diego, CA
"Light Decaying" depicts a winding river through a mountainous terrain, not unlike the many vistas and terrains of Carpenter's adventures into nature. As a painter, I examine how the depiction of light contributes to our experience of paintings. The portrayal of light helps a painting to convey the atmosphere and mood of a scene, and is much of what enables a painting to convey depth and realism. Our perception of lighting features occurs largely through pathways in the brain that carry only black and white information, pathways which are distinct from areas that encode the colors and details we use to delineate specific objects. By painting in grayscale, I try to interact specifically with this region of our visual system, with the hope of conveying some of the spaciousness and emotional significance that light can imbue on scenes. Light, whether as the crisp contrast of a back-lit forest or the gray haze of an industrial landscape, is what defines a scene. Its power to communicate the feel of a place is the principle subject of my paintings. The Blue Azul Collection...

One Of The Ways
Located in San Diego, CA
"One Of The Ways" depicts a densely populated grove. As with other of Carpenter's paintings, this scene invites viewers to look closer and also to go out to explore nature. As a painter, I examine how the depiction of light contributes to our experience of paintings. The portrayal of light helps a painting to convey the atmosphere and mood of a scene, and is much of what enables a painting to convey depth and realism. No Escape from Nature
Located in San Diego, CA
"No Escape from Nature" depicts an early morning walk through the woods. Dappled sunlight makes this scene quite tranquil. As a painter, I examine how the depiction of light contributes to our experience of paintings.
