DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK
In Ibiza Market, Ignacio Gil Sala transports us to a traditional Mediterranean island scene, likely set in the 1950s or 60s. Women with brightly colored scarves, children, fruit, and woven baskets fill a lively open space under improvised awnings, where sunlight filters through with vibrant intensity.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Ignacio Gil Sala (Barcelona, 1913 – 2003) was a prominent Spanish Post-Impressionist painter, celebrated for his treatment of Mediterranean light and his sensitivity in portraying genre scenes. Trained at the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona, he was awarded the Silver Medal in 1930 and received a grant in 1936 to travel throughout Spain, supported by the sculptor Mariano Benlliure.
His work includes landscapes, seascapes, portraits, and urban scenes, all depicted with a lively, honest, and direct gaze. His compositions exhibit strong draftsmanship and a free brushstroke, echoing the legacy of the Valencian luminist school. Ibiza was one of his recurring sources of inspiration, as this painting attests.
He received numerous awards, including:

American Impressionist :
Louis H. Richardson was born in New Bedford, MA, where he lived and worked until his death in 1923. Richardson was a self-taught Impressionist artist, most known for his sensitive paintings of the landscape surrounding New Bedford and the Dartmouth area. From his shanty shack studio at Salters Point in South Dartmouth, he would paint the wetlands and feature water, trees, the sky and land. In 1917, Richardson was part of a two-man show in New York City with artist Clifford W. Ashley at the Arlington Art Galleries on Madison Avenue. Of his show, The New Bedford Sunday Standard wrote: “His style is so absolutely his own that the simple mention of his name recalls to mind vividly the salt marshes, the soft browns of silent reaches near the sea, wind-blown inlets, flying clouds. … Some of it reaches a height of charm and truth that it would be impossible to surpass.” Richardson believed in the art community and founded the New Bedford Arts Club and its successor the New Bedford Fine Arts Society.
When not painting, Richardson worked at the New Bedford Water Company and later as a plumbing inspector for the city’s Board of Health. He was an avid baseball player and would be known as “the Babe Ruth of New Bedford.”
On his death, the local newspaper declared him “one of the best-known artists in New Bedford” and “one of the art pioneers in building up a more widespread appreciation of art in the community.”
His work is in the permanent collection of the New Bedford Whaling Museum...

Michel Loeb, 1930- painter, was born in Saint-Cloud. Lives and works in Luberon. Art naïf. Pointillist, Fauvist, Surrealist, Dadai artist, unclassifiable, highly original, unique art. His works radiate a light, a love of colors, of the absurd, of the funny, of the tender and of the poetic. French Naive art. Galerie Felix Vercel showed his work. Whether in color or black & white, in painting, sculpture or a lithograph print, the world of Michel Loeb is a poetic, joyful and exuberant paradise, where humor and fantasy are never far away. Extravagant works that sparkle like their iconoclastic author whose titles often say a lot. Each work is executed with great attention to detail, often under the magnifying glass, by this former jeweler, including its very large formats. Michel Loeb has drawn parallels to his masters of painting, facetious but always majestic winks and the desire for paintings in the style of Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Edward Hopper, Hokusai.
Michel Loeb is a painter born in Saint-Cloud. He first trained as a jeweler and diamond dealer like his father and painted as an amateur. He devoted himself to painting from 1970, after his meeting with the famous art dealer Félix Vercel, who then took him under contract and exhibited him in Paris, New York and Tokyo. Galerie Felix Vercel in Paris (Avenue Matignon) and New York (Madison Avenue) showed artists as Pablo Picasso, Fernand Leger, Armand Guillaumin, Maurice Utrillo and Claude Venard.
He is part of School of Paris artists that included Marcel Cosson, Jean Jansem, Claude Salomon, Michel Kouliche, Bernard Buffet, Bernard Lorjou, Jean Dufy, and others. Naive art was then in fashion and his work enjoyed great success; he has prepared no less than one exhibition per year since this period. Recently he had the opportunity to present his work in Provence, Oslo or Shanghai. Since 1988, he has settled in Oppède, in the Luberon, among vineyards, scrubland and olive groves where he draws his inspiration. A monumental and historically distinguished work by this groundbreaking Peruvian Modernist who drew inspiration from Peruvian indigenous and pre-colonial culture. The paintings of Emilio Rodríguez Larraín are held in the permanent collections of museums worldwide including the Musée de la Ville de Paris, Peru's Museo de Arte de Lima and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. This painting was selected by the Peruvian Government for exhibition at the XXXII Venice Biennale in 1964 and is the largest single recorded work by the artist.
