The medium of choice for Do Byung-Kyu, born in Cheonan, Korea, is dolls: they are both his conceptions and his physical expression. At the same time dolls are also the perfect tool for communicating the artist’s inner self. Expressing himself by means of dolls liberates Do from the restrictions of the mundane world. By embodying in the form of dolls his actions and thoughts, dreams and desires, and even the instincts lying in the depths of the subconscious, he transcends the secular boundaries. Dolls are his alter ego, his other self that he can construct precisely the way he wants. Sublimating the experiences and memories from his youth into various subjects of desire, Do uses dolls to paint a descriptive picture of the ambiguous feelings of contradictions from his childhood when he would abuse and kill a plaything, for example a frog, then bury the body in solemn mourning over its death. These sexual or violent games from his childhood are not likely to be limited to Do’s experiences alone. Most of us can vaguely remember indulging in sadistic acts of sexual love against a doll. Rising above a child’s simple curiosity, it is an intuitive game of the senses we play by ourselves. In a number of Do’s paintings, sticky liquid can be observed dripping down a doll’s face. This brings back recollections of the life inside our mothers’ womb where we were also enveloped by mucous waters, like the amniotic fluid. It refuses contact with the anything, and nothing wants to touch it either. The shape of such a mucous liquid is a protective layer sheltering the intrinsic identity and desires of man. Artist Biography:
Peter Wu has been engaged in artistic creation for more than 30 years. He has held solo and group art
shows around the world and many of his art works have been collected by collectors in different
countries. Especially in 2003, when his artwork was collected by the municipal government of Lille Mons
of France.
The style of Mr. Wu’s works is lyrical and poetic. His works have shown solid foundation of traditional
painting skills. At the same time, the background of oriental culture has deeply influenced the form and
style of his works. He skillfully uses the rules of oriental composition in his works. Elements of eastern
and western aesthetics can be found in his elegant and colorful abstract paintings and some of his
figurative works. The perfect combination of light, texture, and sense of volume, which are the basic
aesthetic demands of visual art, has provided the viewers with pleasant artistic enjoyment, and also
enable viewers to explore the meaning of living and life.
During the past decades, Mr. Wu has explored and experimented different artistic styles that evolved
gradually from the traditional western art. As you can see from his art works, he is an artist that can do
different styles. He has a good performance in all fields of fine art. In other words, he has a perfect
artistic control over various styles and materials in art.
Mr. Wu has received many honors during years of artistic practice. In 2003, due to his excellent
performance in the Sino-French Cultural Year, Mr. Wu was awarded the Medal of Honor France-China
(Medaille D`Honneur France-Chine ) by the Association D`Echanges Artistiques Universels, and was
invited to become the honorary member of the Association of the Universal Artist Exchange (Association
D`Echanges Artistiques Universels) in France.
After coming to the United States in 2016, his art activities is concentrated in the USA. In recent years,

In 'Ecce Homo', the image was taken from a story where Palestinian medics evacuate an injured protester who clashed with Israeli security near the boarder Dixon changes the images somewhat by cropping them, taking things out, adding color, etc. But the image is definitely something seen originally by someone else. “I must say”, says Dixon, “I have rather strong feelings about these images myself. I see them at least in part as an homage to the intrepid photographers on the front lines who are telling truth to the world about what’s actually going on out there.”

'Home' by Willard Dixon, These paintings are generally taken from small black and white newspaper photos from Willard Dixon’s daily reading of the news. He changes the images somewhat by cropping them, taking things out, adding color, etc. But the image is definitely something seen originally by someone else. “I must say”, says Dixon, “I have rather strong feelings about these images myself. I see them at least in part as an homage to the intrepid photographers on the front lines who are telling truth to the world about what’s actually going on out there.”

Portrait paintings are at least as old as ancient Egypt, where realistic, lifelike depictions of the recently deceased — commonly known as “mummy portraits” — were painted on wooden panels and affixed to mummies as part of the burial tradition.
