The work of Durieux has been characterized in the last 25 years by the tranquil French landscapes. His enthusiasts enjoy it and stand in the gallery with their nose on top of the drawings and paintings. However, there is a special novelty to report for this exhibition! Peter Durieux signed again in the Netherlands. Anyone who knows the artist knows that his drawings are the source for the paintings he makes. These drawings, made in the landscape, form an important part in the oeuvre of the Groningen artist. The "plein air draftsman" draws a few mornings or afternoons per drawing to the same place. He records how the light shows the landscape. It is important for Durieux that the light is the same as the day before, which is why the artist always opts for the same moments of the day in the same place. The tonal landscapes show a silence and an unparalleled intimacy. Peter Durieux signed for this exhibition in Brabant on the Strabrechtse Heide (near Nuenen in Heeze) and in Groningen, the province where he lives. He made paintings from these drawings. In addition to the Dutch work, there is also new "French" work on display. Drawing is watching. Durieux's paintings and drawings are created in various steps. Peter studies his landscapes while he draws. "Drawing is watching," he likes to tell his students at the Classical Academy in Groningen. Twice a year he travels to "Le Coulet", a small hamlet in the French Ardêche. Encuentro by Mercedes Ayala is an oil painting most like painted at the Monasteries on the slopes of Popocatépetl. The Monasteries consists of fourteen monasteries built on or near the Popocatépetl volcano in central Mexico in the sixteenth century by members of the Franciscan, Dominican and Augustinian orders. They were a major factor in the Christianization of a large population over a vast territory and in a short period of time. These 14 monasteries cover over 150 miles (242 kilometers) of land southeast of Mexico City; 11 in the state of Morelos and three in Puebla state. It was impossible to photograph but behind the second monk is a third monk and you can barely see the candle. This is an oil on canvas and painted in her studio in Mexico D.F. This meadery in Kolomenskoye Park is known to many park visitors. It is located next to the front gate to the left of the entrance to the park on the territory of the Kazan Garden.
