Located in London, GB
Lorenzo Agius (b.1962) Jude and Ewan in Bed 2003 digital C-Type print 48 x 60 in. / 30 x 40 in. / 20 x 24 in. signed and numbered printed later This work is available in the following sizes (paper size): 20 x 24 in., edition of 25 + 2 AP, £3,960 (inc. 20% UK VAT) 30 x 40 in., edition of 25 + 2 AP, £5,880 (inc. 20% UK VAT) 48 x 60 in., edition of 15 + 2 AP, £8,640 (inc. 20% UK VAT) Provenance: Direct from the artist's studio Notes: All photographs are signed and numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the photographer. Photographed in London, 2003, celebrating the Bafta awards and UK talent. Celebrity photographer, Lorenzo Agius, is renowned for his unique, intimate and often comical portraits of the 'stars'. The photographer shot to great prominence following his seminal images from the 1996 groundbreaking British film, Trainspotting. Agius has had a colourful affair with 'celebrity' over the past two decades. Expertly capturing the character and individuality of each of his sitters, Agius' images flaunt stylistic brilliance and bubble with personality. From Madonna to Margot Robbie, Agius' body of work portrays the varying and often polar characters of major icons. He tunes into the creativity of his subjects and successfully reflects the mood of the moment; the results are natural, accessible and in each case reflect the artist's eye for light, composition and a strong imagination for narrative. Whether it be celebrating British culture or capturing the sleek, Hollywood look, Agius' personality is intrinsic to his photographs; the mood is always light and refreshing and humour is ever present. Six of Agius' iconic works are part of the permanent collection at the National Portrait Gallery, London. The artist has been an Ambassador for Canon Cameras since 2008 and has exhibited at The Getty Gallery, London alongside other notable exhibitions in Moscow, Paris, Cannes and the UAE. Crushed Oil Can Ltd Ed 3/20
Located in New York, NY
Aluminum mounted giclee archival print. Ltd Ed 3/20. Sits about an inch off the wall. ABOUT THE ARTIST Marco studied fine art at Pratt Institute and the Art Students League in New York. New York Times photography critic Gene Thornton called Marco “a Minimalist, whose images are sensual, whimsical, often surreal, always strong, and deceptively simple.” “I’ve had the pleasure of working with Phil Marco on a number of my films. Phil is a man of extraordinary talents. It seems that his passion is to take an everyday object or event, and show it in an entirely new and exciting way.” Martin Scorsese. Phil’s work is represented in MOMA, The Museum of the Moving Image, and The George Eastman Museum of Photography. His first photographs were studies for his paintings, before he launched a career in print advertising. He eventually became a Director / DP for film and television for a vast base of national and international clients with his wife Patricia as Partner and Producer. In the 1980’s and 90’s Phil was the go to person for Special Effects in Television and Cinema, also best known for his graphic conceptual still lives, and his consummate mastery of lighting, and design. He’s won many awards for his work, including numerous Cannes Lions, Cleo’s, a Grammy for his print work on the legendary “Tommy the Who...

Iceman - Children Gathered Around an Ice Cream Vendor circa 1949, Photo Signed
Located in Chicago, IL
Children gather around the ice cream vendor with wrapped attention in this wonderful example of Art Shay's mastery of street photography. Circa 1949, this photo captures an innocence from days gone by. It is matted and framed in a simple black frame measuring 16h x 19.25w x 1.25d inches. Art Shay Iceman silver gelatin print, printed circa 2010 11h x 14w in 27.94h x 35.56w cm ASY12019 “Art Shay’s photography shakes you up, sets you down gently, pats you on the head and then kicks you in the ass.” Roger Ebert “[Shay’s work] ranks with some of the greats of the 20th century.” Ellen and Richard Sandor, Renowned photo collectors “I’ve admired Art Shay’s work for almost forty years, and he keeps getting better. He can do anything with a camera, but what he mostly does is capture real moments and transform them into visual poetry. His work continues to be an inspiration to me.” William Friedkin, Director of French Connection “Art Shay is one of our finest photographers. His work over the past fifty years has artfully captured the beauty, humor, and pathos of America.” Studs Terkel “Art Shay is one of the best photojournalists I know. I’ve been a fan of his work since the early 1950s - before the launch of playboy magazine.” Hugh Hefner “Algren, Terkel, Royko, they gave us a voice. Art Shay gave us a face.” Tony Fitzpatrick, Chicago Artist “Art Shay is America’s Cartier-Bresson.” Thomas Dyja, author of The Third Coast “Chicago’s Art Shay in many ways is to American photography what Nelson Algren was to American writing: that rare and absolutely necessary citizen who’s blessed with a cold eye, a clear head, and a warm heart...

She Disappeared into Complete Silence (AD6075) - abstract figurative photograph
Located in San Francisco, CA
In the series 'She Disappeared into Complete Silence' (2014) Mona Kuhn takes a new direction into abstraction. She turns to a highly austere and restrained reductionist geometry and distilled formal purity, connecting the interior to the exterior, the visible to the hidden. These reflections cause one to linger, as they merge to create a dynamic equilibrium of tension, spaces and rythms. AD6075 (She Disappeared into Complete Silence) 30" x 40" / 76cm x 102cm edition of 8 + 2AP 45" x 60" / 114cm x 152cm edition of 8 + 2AP limited edition photograph printed under artist supervision + accompanied by signed artist certificate: artist signature labels are 8x10 in size signed, editioned, dated and titled by the artist, and stamped for authenticity label is placed centered on verso of the mounted print __________________ About the artist Acclaimed for her contemporary depictions, Kuhn is considered a leading artist in the world of figurative discourse. Throughout a career spanning more than twenty years, the underlying theme of her work is her reflection on humanity’s longing for spiritual connection and solidarity. As she solidified her photographic style, Kuhn created a notable approach to the nude by developing friendships with her subjects, and employing a range of playful visual strategies that use natural light and minimalist settings to evoke a sublime sense of comfort between the human figure and its environment. Her work is natural, restful, and a reinterpretation of the nude in the canon of contemporary art. For the past two decades, the Los-Angeles based artist's works have been shown steadily, revealing an astonishing consistency in technique, of subject and of purpose. In 2001, Kuhn’s photographs were first seen by an influential audience during the exhibition at Charles Cowles Gallery in Chelsea, New York. Kuhn’s distinct aesthetic has propelled her as one of the most collectible contemporary art photographers—her work is in private and public collections worldwide and she is represented by galleries across the United States, Europe and Asia. Kuhn was born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1969, of German descent. In 1989, Kuhn moved to the US and earned her BA from The Ohio State University, before furthering her studies at the San Francisco Art Institute. She is currently an independent scholar at The Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles. Occasionally, Mona teaches at UCLA and the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Mona Kuhn’s first monograph, Photographs, was debuted by Steidl in 2004; followed by Evidence (2007), Native (2010), Bordeaux Series (2011), Private (2014), and She Disappeared into Complete Silence (2018/19). In addition, Kuhn's monograph titled Bushes and Succulents has been published by Stanley/Barker Editions, with a debut at Jeu de Paume in Paris, in 2019. A stunning career retrospective of Mona Kuhn's works has been published by Thames & Hudson, Spring 2021. Kuhn's forthcoming publication Kings Road, will be published and released by Steid this Fall 2021. Mona Kuhn’s work is in private and public collections worldwide, including The J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Hammer Museum, Perez Art Museum Miami, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the Kiyosato Museum in Japan. Kuhn's work has been exhibited at The Louvre Museum and Le Bal in Paris; The Whitechapel Gallery and Royal Academy of Arts in London; Musée de l’Elysée in Switzerland; Leopold Museum in Vienna Austria, The Polygon Gallery in Vancouver Canada, Taipei Fine Arts Museum in Taiwan and Australian Centre for Photography.
