The photograph is framed to the line and crop indicated by the photographer on the print, behind museum quality UV non-reflective glass. (A Fresson print is a type of photographic printing, created in 1899, that has been passed down in the family for four generations. Still to this day, the Fresson family keeps some elements of the process a secret but make sure it stays alive. Located in the outskirts of Paris, their workshop is the only one in the world to produce such prints.)
Albin-Guillot studied drawing and painting before becoming interested in photography. In 1925, she went on to have the first one-person exhibition at the Paris Autumn Salon. She also served as president of the French Societe des Artistes Photographes and in June 1928, was included in the first independent Salon of Photography in Paris. Published in 1932, she took a series of male nudes taken for Henry de Motherlant’s La Deesse Cypris. The strongly cropped images in which the male nudes fill the entire frame accompany the author’s text about sensuality. In 1933, she collaborated with the poet Paul Valery...

Bert Hardy
Albert William Thomas Hardy (19 May 1913 – 3 July 1995) was an English documentary and press photographer known for his work published in the Picture Post magazine between 1941 and 1957.
Life and work
Born in Blackfriars, Bert Hardy rose from humble working class origins in Southwark, London. The eldest of seven children, he left school at age 14 to work for a chemist who also processed photos. His first big sale came in 1936 when he photographed King George V and Queen Mary in a passing carriage during the Silver Jubilee celebrations, and sold 200 small prints of his best view of the King. His first assignment, at age 23, was to photograph Hungarian actor Sakall at the Mayfair Hotel. Hardy freelanced for The Bicycle magazine, and bought his first small-format 35 mm Leica. He signed on with the General Photographic Agency as a Leica photographer, later founding his own freelance firm, Criterion.

In 1941, Hardy was recruited by the then editor Tom Hopkinson of the leading picture publication of the 1930s to the 1950s, Picture Post. Founded in 1938 and funded by publisher Edward Hulton, the magazine's first editor was Hungarian émigré Stefan Lorant (1901–97) assisted by Hopkinson, who took over as editor from 1940. The picture-centric, left-leaning and reasonably-priced publication was highly successful and circulation soon rose to over a million. Hardy's photographer colleagues included Felix H. Groundbreaking fashion photographer Gleb Derujinsky invigorated the fashion industry with his glamorous, exotic, and often unconventional photographs. Gleb Derujinsky's career as a fashion photographer took hold in the golden age of European haute couture, when Balenciaga and Pierre Balmain were at the top of their game and Yves Saint Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld were designing their first runway shows. Although air travel was still reserved for the happy few, Derujinsky convinced his editors Carmel Snow and Diana Vreeland to send him around the world to photograph beautiful models like Carmen Dell Orefice and his future wife, Ruth Neumann draped in expensive gowns juxtaposed against rough desert dunes or a glittering ocean at sunset. His ideas were revolutionary and they gave rise to the mystique and glamour that is now pervasive in fashion. Derujinsky was the quintessential Renaissance man photographer, award-winning cinematographer and commercial director, inventor, WWII veteran, world traveler, jewelry designer, musician, ski instructor, Ferrari America race-car driver, and champion glider pilot. His passion for photography started at the tender age of six, by ten, he had built a photo enlarger, and as a teenager, he became the youngest member of the Camera Club of New York. His photographs appeared in major lifestyle magazines and extensively in Harper's Bazaar from 1950 to 1970
